Back in Time- First Raft-up

Jesse's and Shanna's first raft-up ever! Jesse's Girl was so new we didn't even have the name on her yet! We rafted with Judy and Michael Stouffer aboard Milagro after spending the night before at Drake's Bay.

Michael, feeling the pressure to keep up with his new found Captain Courageous status, saving dingys and all, rescued Shanna's hat from the drink and promptly tried it on! Quite fetching!

Jesse aboard the Angel Island tour bus. Boy were we in for real treat! The GPS guided automatic commentary was non-operational and the bus driver gave us his own personal tour information. We didn't learn a lot about history but there is a point on Angel Island he thought looked like a dragon! Maybe it was Puff the Magic Dragon.

Views from the tour looking out at the San Francisco Bay Area.

Some of the old houses are inhabited by park rangers. It's still top secret where the Angry Park Ranger lives.

We got the chance to explore this building and we highly recommend the tour on Angel Island.

5:55 am Angel Island. The current and wind placed such strain on our mooring line that it snapped and upon discovering we were way to close to the beach it was all hands on deck aboard Milagro. All snug in our berth Jesse and Shanna heard the pitter patter of huge stomping feet. Then Jesse was up on deck in bare feet and Shanna in a short sleeve shirt. Brrrrr!

Trying to push the boats in the strong current did not work...

so Wally and Michael tried pulling....

Shanna was anxious to help so after pulling on the new mooring line it was run back to Jesse's Girl and she was told to wrap it around the mid-ship cleat. However, there was less than a foot of line in which to tie a cleat hitch and the boats were shifting in the current and wind, FAST! No worries, she wrapped it part way and stood on the line's end. To stay warm she crouched down into a tight ball and after a minute or two begged for someone to bring a coat.

The calm after the storm. Anybody up for some flapjacks?
